Intelligent Enterprise Framework

Introduction to Intelligent Enterprise Framework

The Intelligent Enterprise Framework is not a name of a  Product or any Software. It is a term used to represent a modern enterprise that uses advanced new technology, such as Machine learning and Artificial intelligence, to get the most data.

Before the age of computers, business operations were handled manually, restricted to a limited set of process steps, and had no room for innovation, research, or flexibility. But when computers were introduced, they revolutionized the way organizations did business. Alternatively, online money transfers were used to send checks by physical mail. Substantial physical ledgers were replaced by software applications that redefined business processes to use the advantages of computers.

Fast forward to 2021, we are in a period where technological advances are at their highest. Modern-day consumers or customers use mobile apps and social media to make purchases, communicate with brands, make cardless payments, and receive same-day delivery.

So, modern enterprises must change how they do business by reevaluating their business processes. Otherwise, they will be left in the back of the changing world. They must integrate their customer support channels and CRM software (Customer Relationship Management Software) with social media to serve customers better. They need more data in real-time to make faster decisions and utilize technologies such as AI and predictive analytics to predict outcomes. They use technology like IoT to save costs and provide better support, are graceful, and can adapt to change rapidly. So it provides a better user experience not just to its customers but also to its employees.

In simple language, they must become an Intelligent Enterprise.

What is an Intelligent Enterprise Framework?

It is like a connector that connects four things of data, intelligence, enterprise processes, and business networks. This framework imputes the foundation of the Intelligent Enterprise that will hold sway over all industries in the future, allowing businesses to achieve desired outcomes faster, with less risk, and become intelligent, best-run businesses.

The path to an intelligent enterprise depends on the business priorities and maturity of digital transformation. Intelligent Enterprise offers integration-ready applications to help manage customers, supply chains, and networks.

The architecture of Intelligent Enterprise

In 2018, the Intelligent Enterprise Framework looked like the below picture -

There are three main components in this framework. They are -

  1. Intelligent Suite: It contains the suite of products an organization requires to run its core business processes. In the center is the ERP digital core (either on-premise or cloud version) that is supported by Customer Experience, Manufacturing & Supply Chain, People Engagement (SuccessFactors & FieldGlass), and Network & Spend Management (Ariba & Concur).
  2. Digital Platform: The digital platform provides applications that enable data collection, connection, and coherence and integrate and augment data-rich processes in inter combined applications (SCP).
  3. Intelligent Technologies: Intelligent technologies such as ML, AI, IoT, and Analytics help organizations use organization-wide data to detect and predict patterns, predict outcomes, suggest actions, and trigger processing execution.

In 2023, updated the intelligent Enterprise framework, and it looks like the below picture -

The latest components are Business processes, Applications, Technology, and Infrastructure. Integrating technical integration of applications and business processes to deliver significant value to the business is what will help organizations become Intelligent enterprises.

The components of this updated framework are -

  • Business Process: It includes Business Network and Business Process Intelligence. Business Network is a cloud-based solution that allows all organizations to connect all their trading partners into a single directory and also helps them streamline their supply chain operations. It consists of applications such as Ariba Network, Logistic Business Network, and Intelligence Network. Business Process Intelligence solutions enable organizations to analyze the performance of their business processes and then back the process insights into preferable actions to help drive digital transformation and include components such as Analyze, Design and Simulate, Rollout & Govern, Monitor, Model & Manage, and Benchmark.
  • Applications: Includes various applications such as the Intelligent Suite and Industry Cloud. The intelligent suite consists of the solutions such as Customer Experience, Manufacturing & Supply Chain, The Digital Core, People Engagement, and Network & Spend Management. Industry Cloud consists of vertical solutions from enterprises and partners that organizations can utilize to do industry best practices and extend their current business model.
  • Business Technology Platform: This platform comprises excellent solutions such as Database & Data Management, Analytics, Application Development & Integration, and Intelligent Technologies. It provides organizations with a platform continuously in which they can build, manage, deploy, and connect data and business processes on one inner connected platform.
  • Infrastructure: All customers can host their applications in a data center or one of the hyperscalers, such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. It helps to be more agile and also reduces the cost of ownership.

Intelligent Technologies for Intelligent Enterprises

The tools used by intelligent enterprises but the priorities they support generally cluster around three primary characteristics:

  • Agility: The capacity of swift, strategic, and value-focused responses to rapid changes in the supply chain, marketplace, or the organization itself.
  • Visibility: The removal of barriers to more data and process integration; the ability to join the organization’s atmosphere and integrate its software environment for maximum transparency, case of access, and on-demand access, analysis, and reporting in support of advanced pattern recognition on data, process minimization, proper decision making, and innovation.
  • Focus: the ability to strengthen insights derived from improved visibility to model possible outcomes more effectively and create efficient and better use of resources, capital, and labor.

Advantages of Intelligent Enterprise Framework

  • Efficiency: In real-time data analytics and the agility to convert to ever-changing markets allow business processes with the tensible to operate during market up-and-down efficiently. The data is continuously collected and provides insights and recommendations for automated business processes that can increase productivity, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Innovation: These are instructed for innovation, as they have the integrated team structure needed for collaboration and customer-centric solutions, and the level of confidence comes from solutions backed by data, collaboratively formed, and unmatched customer approval.
  • Customer-Focused Solutions: Here, it is easy to see how customer data can lead to customer-focused solutions, but without the proper techniques and tools to gear that information, it can be a faded exercise, and utilizing the accurately obtaining data and appropriately delivering services based on customer needs is the foundation for an intelligent enterprise.

Limitations of the Intelligent Enterprise Framework

For an Intelligent Enterprise framework to work both the inner and outer of businesses, it needs to work together hand in hand. The winner of a business includes the following: strategic planning from the Management, resource efficiency, opportunities, processes, and interaction with the environment. On the other hand, the latter would include those such as the general economic pressures, corporation mergers, and acquisitions that have an effect internally and externally.

So humans must be the intelligence behind the technological systems and certify that the validity still needs improvement. Human beings have many qualities that are different from that of a technology apparatus (psychological & sociological) that need to be considered.

Use cases of Intelligent Enterprise Framework

It represents the next generation of businesses performing tasks faster with fewer risks using computing and processing solutions. It provides visibility, focus, and agility, crucial to playing across diverse industries.

  • Healthcare: The healthcare ecosystem is transforming fastly in every scenario. Healthcare organizations leverage different technologies that are so intelligent such as machine learning, data analytics, IoT, and others, to provide smooth, effective patient care. All the framework approaches within healthcare can deliver considerable advantages, including improved patient outcomes, better patient experience, data-driven decisions, and an empowered workforce.
  • BFSI: Banks and other financial services providers today use a meld of technology, ranging from artificial intelligence to blockchain and machine learning to automation and others, to deliver personalized products and customer services. As digital experiences help banks reimagine their strategies to remain germane for their customers, they require data-driven intelligence, operational effectiveness, and seamless connectivity to become brilliant enterprises.
  • Insurance: All insurance companies are always concerned about fraud that leads to a significant loss. The intelligent enterprise framework is well-positioned to address the challenges. Technologies like machine learning and predictive analytics flag fraudulent claims for human checks, reducing a firm’s losses.
  • Media and Entertainment: Intelligent enterprises help media companies engage the audience with more comprehensive information, capture and analyze data related to audience behavior, and build proprietary direct-to-consumer platforms.
